De Beers popularised the union of a diamond with the wedding band, changing the way marriages work forever. For their Akshay Tritiya installation we combined design elements with the Forevermark logo and a lotus motif to symbolise eternal beauty and prosperity.

Challenge

No straight lines in nature.

Drawing inspiration from nature is always tricky. We strive so hard for perfection that we often forget that it is a human construct. Nature has no straight lines and there is now way to replicate the beauty of a lotus with a perfectionist mindset.

Approach

Flipped the script.

We soon realised through the creation of multiple prototypes that recreating a flawless lotus would be impossible. So we decided to use limitations to our advantage and go the geometric way. This helped us create motifs that were perfect in terms of precision and design making them imperfectly beautiful symbols of the real thing.

Solution

Art imitates life.

What resulted was visual merchandising that combines inspiration from nature and branded elements. We used a combination of paper and metal to further highlight stark yet beautiful contrast between natural and manmade elements. This hybrid design perfectly encapsulates the essence of De Beers Forevermark connecting how they elevate naturally found diamonds with their expert craftsmanship. We created something unique to the eyes yet relatable to the soul.
