Challenge
Can Design Make You Feel?
As we grow older, we often start tucking joy away, keeping it quiet, reserved for the right time or place. We design our environments to be sleek, structured, and understated, often at the cost of playfulness. But should joy be subtle? Should happiness be something we hide? How can design give joy a presence, one that demands to be seen, felt, and shared?

Approach
Emotion in Every Detail
Inspired by the universal language of laughter, this bench captures the essence of a smile in both form and spirit. The curved seat mimics the upward arc of a joyful grin, creating an inviting space for relaxation. The bold red sphere at its base, a playful nod to a clown’s nose, anchors the piece, symbolising the balance between fun and stability. The design supports but it also uplifts, inviting people to sit, engage, and momentarily step away from the seriousness of life.

Solution
Transforming Ordinary into Extraordinary
The Clown’s Smile Bench is a testament to the idea that joy can be designed. It transforms the act of sitting into something memorable, something that sparks emotion. It transcends beyond being an object, it’s an experience, a conversation starter, a piece of joy sculpted into form. Whether placed in a collaborative workspace or a creative lounge, it acts as an invitation to embrace playfulness, pause for a moment, and let life feel just a little lighter.
